When you talk the talk, you should walk the walk. Otherwise, people call you a hypocrite. But not just you. They lump all Christians together and say we all are hypocrites. That's ok, because we are all hypocrites. As the great Apostle Paul said in Romans 7:15 "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”
Now, I'll be the first to admit that sometimes words and emotions come out of me that shouldn't. Does that make me a hypocrite? Yes, yes it does. But I am covered by the Blood of Jesus. That makes me righteous. Despite myself.
But when we tell an off color joke, or post a meme on Facebook that may be funny and may even be true, do you look at the site it originally came from? What is the title of that site? If you share this meme, the name of that site will be forever tied to your name, and to the name that you bear, the name of Jesus.
I try to be careful of what I post and even what I "like" on Facebook. If it comes from a site that uses foul language or spews hate, I'm not gonna like it, no matter how much I may agree with what is being said. I am Christ's ambassador. As such, I am required to act on His behalf. I am not a Christian only in name. I try, sometimes unsuccessfully, to represent the One who redeemed me. My life is NOT my own. I was ransomed by the blood of Christ. He paid the price, not me. I am His. And He is mine.
A day is coming when we will all stand before Christ as he judges ALL of us and we WILL be held accountable for every idle word spoken, or printed, or shared on Facebook. EVERY WORD.
“You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.””
